Los Olivos

Description

Los Olivos was designed by Fernando Higueras, a well known Madrid architect, featuring large verandas and canti-levered patios enabling the villa to remain cool in the summer months. The property is located on the highest part of Punta de La Mona, sloping south towards the sea on 3000 square meters of terraces, gardens and orchards. The upper part of the property comprises the main villa with 1050 square metres of floor area, extensive balconies, gardens, guest studio, chapel and swimming pool. On the lower level there are orchards with five terraces of tropical fruits, flowers and a guest studio..

 
   
   
   

 

 

 

 

The main villa has a large kitchen, laundry, dining room, double lounge, library, master bedroom suite and a second bedroom with shower and WC all on the same level as the patios and the formal garden. Access is at street level. On the first floor are two more double bedrooms and two en-suite bathrooms. This can accommodate 8 guests. There are also two guest houses with double bedrooms showers and toilets, providing a total capability for 12 people.(The rear double bedroom near the kitchen would be best suited for children or staff).

The pool measures six meters by twelve and has a diving board at the deep end which is over two meters. The pool house, La Veleta, has changing facilities, toilet and shower. Beneath the main terrace and adjacent to the pool is a well equipped gymnasium.

The house is surrounded by mature trees including olives from the original grove, cypress and palms. Flowers include bourgainvillia, hibiscus, roses, jasmine, agapanthus and dama del noche. The orchard contains a variety of trees; olive, fig, avocado, orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit, mango, papaya, babaco, banana, nisporos, fijoa, persimmon, granados, chirymoya, guavas, grapes, passion fruit and numerous vegetables, herbs, aloes and shrubs. The gardener/manager brings up any available fruit and vegetables to the kitchen daily.

There are wonderful panoramic views from all parts of the property. Below, the Marina del Este, to the east Almunecar, Salobrena, and Motril. To the west, the bay of La Herradura, and in the distance, the hills of Benalmadena. The north coast of Africa is visible on clear day as is the top of the Sierra Nevada ski resort - only a one and a half hour drive.

There is garaging for two cars, a shaded cover for two more and extensive space in the road for guests cars.


La Herradura is one of the few remaining unspoilt villages on the Costa Tropical that can offer a truly Spanish experience in a tranquil environment. The town is situated on the beach road with many outside bars and restaurants. Water sports, tennis, walking, sailing, horse riding and hang gliding are some of the many activities that are available. Granada, Las Alpujarras mountains and the Sierra Nevada are all within easy travelling distance. The nearest town Almuñecar is 3 miles east and Nerja is 10 miles west.
